Between Berber valleys, mountain trails, and forgotten villages.

You can see them from Marrakech… The Atlas Mountains close off the horizon to the south of the city — massive, mineral, and sometimes snow-covered depending on the season.

For 4 days, our travelers left behind the bustle of Marrakech to explore these mountains by electric bike, following tracks, back roads, and mountain paths. A different way to discover Morocco: slower, quieter, and above all, more immersive.

Electric biking completely changes the experience. Here, it’s not about athletic performance, but about the journey itself. Climbs become accessible, distances feel effortless, and at last, there’s time to truly take in everything around you.

Duration: 4 days / 3 nights.

Ourika Valley • Oukaimeden • Imlil Sidi • Fares • Asni

Approximately: 50 km per day.

Day 1 – From the Agafay Desert to the Ourika Valley

60 kilometer

The departure takes place early in the morning from the Allmoov Marrakech base, about twenty kilometers from Marrakech. The group heads toward the first tracks south of the city, with the Atlas peaks gradually taking shape on the horizon.

The journey begins by crossing the Agafay Desert, a vast rocky expanse with lunar-like landscapes located on the edge of the Atlas. The trails wind through arid hills, olive groves, and small ochre-earth villages. As the kilometers go by, the terrain becomes more rugged, signaling the approach of the first Atlas landscapes.

The day continues toward the Ourika Valley, where vegetation becomes denser and Berber villages more frequent. Between small roads and mountain tracks, this first stage, which is also where we spend our first night, offers a gradual transition from the mineral landscapes of Agafay to the lush valleys of the High Atlas.

Day 2 – In the heart of the mountains and Berber villages

50 kilometer

Day 2 takes the group deep into the wild landscapes of the High Atlas. The tracks wind between rocky mountains and remote valleys, where the colors of the rock shift between ochres, reds, and mineral greys.

On electric bikes, every change in terrain is fully felt. The scents of juniper accompany the climb, while the mountain silence is occasionally broken by the bleating of sheep herds. Locals sometimes greet the cyclists, and children cross the paths on muleback while guiding livestock.

Lunch is shared in the heart of the mountains around a tagine, grilled meats, Moroccan salads, and traditional bread, in a simple and friendly atmosphere.

The ascent then continues toward Oukaimeden, perched at over 2,600 meters above sea level and the highest ski resort in North Africa. Electric assistance makes the climb accessible even on the steepest sections, while a 4x4 support vehicle accompanies the group throughout the stage. Arrival at the resort marks the end of this mountain day, which continues with an overnight stay in a mountain lodge in the heart of the Atlas peaks.

Day 3 - From the Heights of Oukaïmeden to the Valleys of Tizi n’Tichka

80 kilometers

After riding along beautiful high-altitude trails around Oukaïmeden, the route gradually begins its descent toward the valleys of Tizi n'Test. The tracks become increasingly fun and flowing, winding through open mountain scenery and small welcoming valleys along the way.

As the day unfolds, the landscape grows greener and more diverse, with scattered vegetation, terraced hillsides and traditional villages bringing a new atmosphere to the ride. A lunch stop in a local mountain guesthouse offers a peaceful break in the heart of the Atlas.

By late afternoon, the group reaches Imilchil for an overnight stay at Douar Samra, set within a beautiful natural park. A quiet and scenic setting to end another unforgettable day of riding through the Moroccan Atlas.

Day 4 — Asni Valley, Kik Plateau, and return to Marrakech

55 kilometers

For this final day, the route gradually descends back toward the Asni valley before reaching the famous Kik Plateau.

The landscapes continue to evolve: wider valleys, terraced fields, walnut trees, and villages clinging to the mountainsides accompany the final kilometers.

From the plateau, sweeping views open up over the Atlas ranges and the vast plains surrounding Marrakech. The pace becomes more relaxed, and the group enjoys the last hours on the bikes, savoring that unique feeling of an expedition journey: moving slowly, observing more, and crossing places often invisible from main roads.

The itinerary then leads to the Lalla Takerkoust Dam, a vast reservoir nestled between desert and mountains, before the gradual return to the Allmoov Marrakech base.

To close the adventure, the group enjoys a final moment of relaxation with a swim in the pool after three days exploring the Atlas landscapes.
